Society of Explosives Engineers
President
Charles Kliche, P.E., Phd
The purpose of the Black Hills Chapter of ISEE is to bring blasters,
drillers, and anyone interested in explosives together for the exchange of
information and the enhancement of our profession. Our Chapter is made up of a
cross section of the industry which includes drillers, blasters, miners,
academics, consultants, powder company representatives, law enforcement, fire
protection, military personnel, and students. The membership is generally
located in the State of South Dakota, Nebraska, or North Dakota.
In addition, the Black Hills Chapter, in conjunction with the Northern Plains
Chapter of ISEE, promotes education through scholarship programs which award
over $5000 yearly to worthy students in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering,
Geology or related fields. These scholarships are awarded to students who live
in South Dakota, North Dakota, or Wyoming.
Meetings are held quarterly in various locations in the Black Hills. In addition
a major drilling and blasting conference commonly called the "Best in the
West" is held each year in the Spring.
